The church bell in the Lower church

17 sep 2014
The church bell in the Lower church

Of all the Calvary bells only the 300 kg example in the south tower of the Lower Church has been preserved. It is marked with the year 1921. It was evidently the only bell which was restored after seizure for military purposes during the First World War. In 2014, we repaired the mechanical parts, replaced the missing clapper and restored it to operation.

Currently it sounds for selected occasions.
