Restoration of stone spiral stairs and brick altar table in the Lower church chapels

There are stone spiral stairs in chapels 4 and 6 of the Lower church. Before starting the restoration of frescoes it was necessary to stabilize all disturbed static structures. They were seriously damaged and nearly destroyed. We have improved both thetechnical state and the aesthetic appearance of these historical constructions. The repair of the stairs was a precondition for the restoration of frescoes in these two chapels.

Sacrificial Tables – The refectory was originally lined by wooden tiles (19th cent.). After removal of altars and table lining it was found that the original stone wall and table Menzies were in a dilapidated condition and required restoration and repair. Restoration of all three sacrificial tables in chapels no. 4, 5 and 6 of the lower church was subsequently carried out.
