In September 2007 we, together with Slovak Mining museum, opened the exhibition „Calvary in Asylum“ in the Museum in Old Castle. Its visitors have the opportunity to see preserved original art from the Calvary, including 17 rare wooden reliefs from the chapels and statues of the crucified Jesus Christ and the two thieves, 3 statues from the chapel Ecce Homo and three statues of women weeping from the Holy Sepulchre. These artefacts were moved because of risk of vandalism, excessive moisture due to precipitation or other harmful effects.
Each of the exhibits is accompanied by a small map with the name of the chapel in which the exhibit was originally located.
The actual installation of the exhibition was far from simple. From the initial expert analysis of the monuments, through their safe transportation to the premises of the castle (every piece required 8 people to move), to their professional installation and lighting, numerous hours of work by experts and enthusiastic volunteers were required. We thank those who voluntary helped to rescue these rare and unprecedented works of art.
